PEORIA - Elmer Aavang, 88, of Peoria and formerly of Wonder Lake, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 14. 1912, in Woodstock, to Almer and Lilly Aavang. He married Mabel Langhoff.

He was employed as a general contractor for 12 years. He also was the plant manager for many years at Guardian Electric and Electrometric companies in Woodstock.

Mr. Aavang is survived by two sons, Lawrence Aavang of Wichita, Kan., and Lynn (Louise) Aavang of Savage, Minn.; a daughter, June Kortemeier of Peoria; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Wilcox of Deer River, Minn.; three brothers, Clarence (Cora) Aavang, Rodney (Libby) Aavang and Victor (Betty) Aavang, all of Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister, Bessie Worn.

The visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, until the funeral at 2:30 p.m. at the McHenry County Memorial Park Chapel, Woodstock.

Burial will follow.
