J.T. son of Clara Howell and John Thomas McBay, grandson of Samuel and Arleva "Leavy" Ratliff McBay, his siblings were Sammie, Leavy, Dick and George. He married Frances Mardell McBay in 1945, father of two, grandfather of 6, was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lincoln County, Tennessee, a deacon, worked for Rambo Farm in their early married life, later worked for the flour mill, Scovill and Spray's Pest Control before retirement.

McBay, Mr. J.T., 73, a resident of Mimosa Road, Fayetteville, and a former employee of Scovill Manufacturing and a technician with Spray's Pest Control, died Saturday (October 21, 1995)at St. Thomas Hospital. A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Clara Howell McBay and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. McBay is survived by his wife, Mardell Thompson McBay of Fayetteville; a daughter, Brenda Jean of Nashville; a son, Dennis McBay of Fayetteville; two brothers Dick McBay of Fayetteville and George McBay of Huntland; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with the Revs. Eldridge Snow and Bobby Durham officiating. Interment followed in Campbell Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
