Synar was born Nov. 21, 1919, at Wellston to Frank J. and Adelaide (Peterson) Synar.
He is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He married Bonnie Phillips at her parents ranch near Fairview on Feb. 21, 1943. After a 10-day honeymoon, he was sent to the Mediterranean for two and a half years. They were married for 63 years when she preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2005.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami with the Rev. K. Andrea Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
