Mrs. Nancy Belle Cady, 81, of South New Berlin at White Store, died March 13, 1998 in the Chenango Memorial Hosiptal.
A life long resident of South New Berlin-Norwich area, she graduated from the South New Berlin High School with the class of 1934 and was active in basketball during her school years.
In addition to having worked for the Norwich Pharmacal Company and the Dairyman's League Milk Plant in Mt. Upton, Mrs. Cady had been a well known self-employed Paper-Hanger in the area. An excellent cook and seamstress, she also enjoyed knitting. She also was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin.
In spite of having been severely inflicted with MS for the last 42 years, she always maintained a positive disposition and showed a deep concern for the needs of others.
Born on June 6, 1916 on the family farm in the Town of Norwich, she was the daughter of Jay and Jessie Howard White. On Dec. 4, 1935, she married L.J. "Que" Cady, who died on Oct. 2, 1990.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Virginia and Thomas Meade; 5 grandchildren: Thomas Jr., Terry, Barbara, Donald, and Michael Meade; 5 great-grandchildren: Todd Jason, Ashley, Jennifer, Amanda Ackermann, and Shannan Stark. She was predeceased by her brother: Marcus White, who died on Aug. 26, 1983.
