GRANGER - James W. Sharpe, 80, of Granger, IN, passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 3, 1933, in Poseyville, IN, to the late James Roy and Elnora L. (Grimes) Emmons. Along with his parents, a son, James E. Sharpe, his sister, Shirley Dietz, and his step-mother, Peggy Sharpe, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Sharpe was the founder and owner of AAY'S Rent-All in Mishawaka since 1966.

On November 11, 1954, he married Theresa S. Urbanski at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa S. Sharpe of Granger, IN; his daughter, Nance Sharpe of Stevensville, MI; his sons, Michael (Nancy) Sharpe and Tim (Mary) Sharpe, both of Cassopolis, MI; five grandchildren: Stephanie (Andy) Whitaker, Ashley, Shannon, and Whitney Sharpe, and Nicole Bonek; three great-grandchildren, Mick and Jude "J.W." Whitaker, and Isabella Bonebrake; and a brother, Ronald A. (Jeannie) Sharpe of Hamilton, TX.

James was a United States Marine Corps veteran, where he served during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Parish in Granger, IN. Jim believed "There is nothing more important than the love of a good wife, children and family." He had a passion for the outdoors, his profession and his travels. Jim was a proud charter member of the Puddle Lake Country Club. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm on Monday, October 21, 2013, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Vigil Service will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also visit from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. William Schooler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN, where military services will be conducted.
