The pedestrian, identified as Roger E. Oran, a 51-year-old Yuma resident, was reportedly crossing Highway 95 northbound towards South Engler Avenue. He was thrown over the vehicle and landed on the north shoulder of East 16th Street.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a surveyor.

Roger Earl Oran was born November 29, 1962 in Favens, Texas but Yuma, Arizona was his home since childhood. On Friday, October 18, 2013 he was struck by a vehicle in Yuma and died at the scene.
He is survived his mother, Phyllis Oran, and siblings, Rachel Anita (John) Jung, Rebecca Cory, Richard E. Oran Jr., Russell (Connie) Oran, Ronald Oran, Rhonda (Joseph) Queenan, Robert Oran and Rosie (Lou) Mikkelsen; sons, Shawn Oran, Roger Eric Oran and Zachary Earl Oran; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Oran Sr.
He attended Yuma area schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving a tour of duty in Korea. He later worked as a surveyor and in construction. His favorite times were being outdoors, taking walks and fun times with his large extended family. He was inspired by his nephew Steve Queenan, who made the most of life's challenges.
Private cremation and family services are set for a later date. Cards may be sent in care of his mother at Yuma Mortuary, 551 W 16th St Yuma AZ 85364.
