Aunt Betty Lou was from Mt. Airy, and along with her future sister-in-law, Mary Bondurant, went to school with Andy Griffith. Quote from Betty Lou about her famous classmate... "He was always acting like a fool!"

She enjoyed being the wife of an executive (Chatham Manufacturing of Elkin), and loved to lunch with the ladies and was very active in her social and civic clubs. She was quite a character herself, and I'll never forget her loud laugh... always fun at family gatherings and never a dull moment. She was a great cook and made wonderful cakes from scratch. She and Clyde had a daughter, Jane, and a son, Bob. The family plot is near the Chatham family in Elkin's Hollywood cemetery.
