EAST BOOTHBAY -- Rachel R. Jordan, 78, of East Boothbay died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor. She was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Westbrook, a daughter of Philip and Evelyn Hebert. Rachel graduated from Presentation of Mary High School in New Hampshire.

She married Emery "Rip" Jordan in 1949 and they were married for 56 wonderful years. She was a secretary at George C. Frye Company in Portland and later worked as a administrative assistant to the attorney general investigator in Augusta.

She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace for 25 years. She was a volunteer for the Boothbay Region YMCA and especially enjoyed helping with the Rocky Coast Road Race. She was an avid runner, walker and health enthusiast. Rachel participated in many races in Portland, she won two, and also at a Scottish Festival.

She was predeceased by her son, Michael Jordan.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rip Jordan of East Boothbay; daughter Michelle Moroney and her husband Allen of West Bath; grandchildren Michael and Rachel Moroney, both of West Bath; and several nieces and nephews. (Kennebec Journal 8/26/2005)
