Funeral services for Florence I. Brandt, 85, of Creighton were held Wednesday, Jan. 25, 1989 at the United Church of Christ in Creighton. Rev. Gary Aten officiated the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was in Millerboro Cemetery.

Florence Irene (Cool) Brandt, the daughter of Matthew and Emma Cool, was born June 17, 1903 in the Blue Vale Community near York. She died at her home Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 1989 at the age of 85 years, six months and 25 days.

As a small child, she moved with her family to the farm home near McCool Junction, where she grew to womanhood. She attended school at District 4 in York County. She was baptized as a young child and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1944.

Florence Cool and John Brandt were united in marriage August 10, 1929 at Pierce. They became the parents of nine children, Derlin, Betty, Rena, Barbara, Charles, Doris, Shirley, Joan and Jimmie.

Florence and John began their married life on a ranch near Irwin, where they lived for several farms in the Creighton vicinity before moving to Creighton in the fall of 1954.

Florence and John celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1979. their family then celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary in 1988 at the home of their daughter, Joan in Brunswick.

Florence enjoyed her gardening and houseplants. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She had made quilt tops for all her grandchildren and crocheted many afghans. She collected salt and pepper shakers as a hobby.

Survivors include her husband, John; children, Derlin and Mrs. Don (Betty) Hinrichs of Creighton; Mrs. Raymond (Rena) Haskin of Elgin; Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Boubin and Charles of Stanton; Mrs. Elmer (Doris) Sedivy of Walthill; Mrs. Ervin (Shirley) Jacobs of Omaha; Mrs. Raymond (Joan) Hansen of Burnswick and Jimmie of Denver, Colo.; 31 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and brother, Harry of Willetes, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
