An obit in The Pantagraph, Bloomington, IL states: "Charles E. Beer, formerly a resident of Bloomington, died Saturday at his home in Corwith, Ia. He was born in [H]ampshire, England, January 3, 1870, and came to this country when a boy. He lived east of Bloomington for many years. His wife, the former Lulu Shepard, preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1934. He is survived by three children by his first marriage, Robert E. of Corwith, Jesse of 1005 South Wright Street, Bloomington, and Mrs. Ed Augstine, Randolph. In 1914 he married Ida Hempstead. She survives with four daughters, Mrs. Newt Kelling, Clarion, Ia.; Mrs. Ruby Maynard, Kanawha, Ia.; Mrs. Emma Kelch and Mrs. Rika Mays, Corwith, Ia. One son, Robert preceded him in death Sept. 3, 1946. Also surviving is one brother, Robert Beer, Bloomington.
