Abbeville, Feb 3 [1916] - Edward H Holman died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs J Allen Smith, Jr, after a short illness. Mr Holman was born in Orangeburg 77 years ago. He lived most of his life in Sumter but had made his home in Abbeville for the past six years. He was a Confederate soldier and took a prominent part in the trying times of 1876.
Dr F K Holman and Mrs T H Clark of Sumter, James H Holman of Batesburg, Mrs J A Smith and Mrs W H White of this place are his surviving children.
Funeral services were held this morning at the late residence. The body accompanied by relatives and friends left here at 1 o'clock for Sumter where the burial will take place Friday morning.

Sumter, Feb 4 [1916] - The body of the late Capt E H Homan of this city arrived from Abbeville and the funeral services were held this morning at the residence of his daughter, Mrs T H Clarke. Interment took place at the Sumter Cemetery, the services being conducted by the Rev J Marion of the Presbyterian Church. Capt Holman was on a visit to his daughter at Abbeville when he was stricken with his last illness and passed away. He is survived by the following children: Capt James B Holman, Batesburg; Dr Frank A Holman, Sumter; Mrs T H Clarke, Sumter; Mrs Joel Allen Smith and Mrs William White, Abbeville.
