Jacob Wilhelm, 72, a resident of Marshfield since early boyhood, died suddenly at 8:45 o’clock this morning of a heart attack while sitting on a couch at his home, 1001S. Central Avenue.
He suffered a stroke last February, but had recovered sufficiently to be up and about. He went riding with Mrs. Wilhelm yesterday afternoon and last Thursday had answered roll call at a fire, having been a member of the Marshfield Volunteer Fire Department for nearly a half century.
Mr. Wilhelm was born in Calumet County, March 24, 1867. He came to Marshfield with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George Wilhelm, when he was 12 or 13 years old. He attended the parochial schools in Calumet County, and the public schools in Marshfield.
He was married in Stevens Point, November 12, 1891, to Anna Wederman. Mr. Wilhelm, a teamster contractor, was an alderman and had been a constable for 35 years. He was a charter member of the Modern Woodman of America in Marshfield for 47 years.
Mrs. Harris G. (Irene) Olander, Manitowoc; Mrs. Burrell (Clara) Conover, Aurora, Illinois; Arthur Wilhelm, Milwaukee; Mr. R. W. (Kathryn) Prucha, Whitewater; and Mrs. Robert (Alice) Garten, West Allis.
Three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Cramer, Salem, Oregon, and Mrs. Mary Diem and Mrs. Joseph Seidl, both of Marshfield, and five grandchildren also survive.
The body will lie in state at the Seehafer-Hansen Funeral Home, where funeral survives will probably be conducted. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Olander, Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Burrell Conover and two children, Jerry and Dick, Aurora, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Prucha, Whitewater; and George Bauer, Elcho.

Funeral rites for Jacob Wilhelm, 72, who died suddenly Monday morning of a heart attack at his home on S. Central Avenue, were conducted at the Seehafer-Hansen Funeral Home, where the body had been lying in state.
The Rev. Arthur Oates, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, had charge of the services, which were held at 1:30 o’clock. Internment was made in Hillside Cemetery.
SING AT SERVICES
During the services, Mrs. J. H. Cundy and Mrs. Harley Oligney sang two selections “Good Morning Here’ and “The City Four-Square.” Mrs. Garth Whittingham was the piano accompanist.
Pallbearers were Walter Mueller, Andrew Hoerl, E. A. Buckmaster, George Noll, Andrew Gehl, and Emil Arendt.
Mrs. Harley Oligney had charge of the flowers and was assisted by Mrs. Harlow Sherman, Mrs. Albert Paulson, Mrs. Chris Paulson, Mrs. Charles Marvin, Mrs. L. F. Reed, Mrs. John Wadsworth, Mrs. Sam LeMahieu, Mrs. Lynn Winch, Mrs. Gordon Mercer, Mrs. Ernest Hillman, and Mrs. Clifford Garten.
RELATIVES HERE
Among the out-of-town relatives and friends here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilhelm, Miss Margaret Wilhelm, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garten, Mrs. Ginster, Mrs. John C. Miller, Miss Emma Tinker, Mrs. William Fennell, and Miss Gertrude Peterson, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Appoints Wilhelm Deputy Sheriff
Sheriff Walter Mueller was in the city to conduct a sheriff’s sale of farmland, held at the city hall. Chris Paulsen’s bid of $1, 875 took the land. While here Mr. Mueller commissioned Jake Wilhelm as deputy sheriff for Marshfield to succeed Charles Normington, resigned. Mr. Wilhelm served as deputy sheriff before and proved himself to be a very good official.
