— John W. Haley, of North Tonawanda, age 88, passed away August 17, 2013 in the VA Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

born July 15, 1925 in Grampian, he was the son of Joseph Haley and Altress Shaffer.

He graduated from high school in Pennsylvania.

He was a highly decorated WWII Navy veteran, receiving many metals, including the Purple Heart.

Mr. Haley was a member of the American Legion, as well as the Purple Heart Association.

Mr. Haley retired from WSF Fabrications in Tonawanda.

John was an avid photographer. He loved fishing, golfing, gardening and bowling. John loved to tell stories and had the best sense of humor. He will be remembered most for his total love and devotion to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (DuFour) Haley, a duaghter, Anita R. (Thomas) Plunkett; proud grandfather of Aryn E. (Robert) Maynard and the late Melissa A. Plunkett; devoted brother of Joseph D., Harry N. and the late Robert Haley.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the WATTENGEL Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM, the Rev. Greg Crispell will officiate.

Interment will be at Acacia Park Cemetery, Tonawanda.
