Nina Dicken Miller, (dau of Isaac Newton & Elizabeth Hopewell (Keene) Miller), b 1 Oct 1867 Weatherford, Parker Co. TX, d 12 Nov 1913 Kerrville, Kerr Co. TX (tuberculosis, at hosp.) Md 10 Feb 1881 Gainesville, Cooke Co. TX to Selden Trullery Lindsey, [son of Burkett Battle "Judge Battle" & Martha Ann Margaret (Haley) Lindsey], b 19 Dec 1854 Claiborne Parish, LA, d 26 Mar 1939 Ardmore, Carter Co. OK. (Both are buried Lot 8, Block 11, Rosehill Cem, Ardmore, Carter Co. OK.) Nina and Selden had 11 children, and had a 2nd marriage ceremony 12 Aug 1898, under Choctaw tribal law, in Pickens County, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, in order to address a preliminary Federal Dawes Commission concern regarding their marriage and assignment of Indian allotment lands in the Chickasaw Nation (lands granted to those of Indian heritage, prior to 1907 Okla. statehood). (Selden Lindsey himself had no rights in the Indian Nation; Nina was shown as 1/16th DIB (Degree of Indian Blood), Choctaw, on Dawes Roll #15361, Census Card No. 224, with notation that "John Miller," deceased, appears on Choctaw roll, 1/8th DIB; mother Elizabeth Miller was "non-citizen" (non-Indian).

She was the daughter of Isaac Newton "Capt. John" Miller and Elizabeth Hopewell Keene, who married 22 June 1855 Fannin Co. TX.

Note: In March 1973 Gloria Schouw Reck had an amended death certificate filed with Texas Dept of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics (for Kerr Co. TX) for Nina Miller Lindsey, d 12 Nov 1913, giving full names of her parents, etc. The original death certificate was woefully incomplete and erroneous. Also note that her tombstone erroneously shows birth date of 4 Oct; the engraver (hired by Harrell McCullough) made this mistake; it should read born 1 Oct 1867.

Gloria Reck, Eureka, CA Great granddaughter of Nina Dicken (Miller) Lindsey and Selden Trullery Lindsey.
