Monday morning, October 21, 2013, Pamela Lynn Baldwin, our loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, activist, and friend passed away at the age of 66 in Meridian, Idaho due to complications from pneumonia. Pam was born on June 6, 1947 to Dr. John H. and Barbara Day in Davenport, Iowa and was raised in Lubbock, Texas where she attended Texas Tech University. She was married to Robert E. Baldwin of Meridian, Idaho on December 28 1982.
Pam was the Executive Director of The Interfaith Alliance of Idaho since 2003, and was an activist and organizer in Idaho for over 20 years. Dedicated to justice and equity, Pam served as director of the Idaho Rural Council, on the board of the National Family Farm Coalition, and as an organizer for Idaho's statewide progressive coalition, United Vision for Idaho. Pam received the Human Rights Leader of the Year for 2004 at the annual Progressive Celebration & Awards Dinner by United Vision for Idaho. During Boise's Pride Week in June 2004, Pam and The Interfaith Alliance of Idaho were given the Birch Award for organizing people of faith to work on undoing heterosexism. In 2009, she was honored as a Woman of the Year by the Idaho Business Review, and honored in 2010 by the Boise State University Women's Center as one of Idaho's Women Making History.
Pam dedicated every fiber of her being to her loving family, and to making her community, Idaho, and the world a better place. She worked with many groups to promote equality, and progress, while building and shaping our community for the future. She was also a dear friend, someone who you could rely on for anything. Pam will forever be a pillar in the community. Her dedication to healing with love, dismantling injustice and racism, will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Pam is survived by her husband Robert of 30 years, her children: Tiffany Yelverton, Long Beach, CA; Dr. Christopher Yelverton and wife Amy Ord, Burlington, VT; Gina Baldwin, Long Island City, NY; and Matthew Baldwin and his daughter Mattox, Meridian, ID; mother, Barbara Day, Meridian, ID; and her brother Dr. John Day, Boulder, CO. Pam was predeceased by father, Dr. John H. Day.
A community memorial and celebration of her life will be held at the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Saturday, October 26th from 1pm to 4pm (6200 N. Garrett, Garden City, Idaho 83714). Formal ceremony will commence at 2pm.
