James W. "Jim" McKnight, 62, of Caruthersville, Missouri, formerly of Murray, died Saturday at his home.

Mr. McKnight, a native of Doniphan, Mo., was a retired sawmill owner and operator. He also worked as a timber buyer.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Russell McKnight; a son, Jim Bob McKnight of Murray; two stepsons, Anthony Jason Long of Caruthersville and Rusty Spiller of Lynnville; four daughters, Jamie Williams of Mayfield, Susan McKnight of Murray, Laura Lear of Moline, Ill., and Theresa McKnight of Pennsylvania; a stepdaughter, Tina Rodgers of Paducah; three brothers, J.L. McKnight of Almo, Albert McKnight of Doniphan and John McKnight of Browns Grove; a sister, Margaret Tillman of Alabama; and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother. His parents were Theodore and Laura Ellen McNew McKnight.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Taylor will officiate, with burial in Stewart Cemetery.
