Funeral services for Edward Taylor, 61, retired farmer of Maury County, were held at one o'clock Monday afternoon in Bennett-May Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Henry Cortner and the Rev. J. C. Elkins, Methodist ministers. Burial took place in Lynnwood Cemetery. Mr. Carpenter died Saturday night, September 2, at his home on Bailey Street in Columbia.
Born May1, 1906, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Samuel Edward Carpenter and Louisa Smith Carpenter. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel Brumit Carpenter; one son, Paul Carpenter, Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mrs. T. H. Rankin, Columbia; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Chat Wells, Campbell Station; one step-brother, Rufus Parker, Wales.
