Michael J. Sweeney, 68, of Belle Vernon R.D. 4, died in the Monongahela Hospital Monday.

He was born in Pleasant Unity, Oct. 3, 1904, a son of the late Michael and Catherine Sweeney.

He was a retired businessman in Rostraver Twp. and taught school in Donora Junior High School for seven years. He was burgess of Donora from 1939 to 1942, member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and of Experimental Aircraft Association and former member of Rostraver Twp. Airport Authority.

He is survived by his widow, Helen M. Sweeney, two sons, Michael D. of St. Charles, Mo., and Brian J. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Carol A. Beatty of Virginia Beach, VA.; on sister Mrs. Anna Mae Baskin of Marion Center, Pa.; two grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the James C. Stump Funeral Home, Rostraver Twp., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Kent Lighthall officiating.

Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
