Son of Suessmann Adler and Merle Michele Heineman Stern. Born in Hofgeismar, Viedensten, Germany. Came to Baltimore, Maryland in 1856. Married Caroline Carrie Frank in Baltimore February 19, 1865. Father of Simon, Abraham, Harry, Helen, Blanche and Saidie. With Henry Frank, Charles built a shoe manufacturing business that enabled the family to live in Bolton Hill.
