Decie was the daughter of William Milton May and Maggie Winsett. She was the wife of Floyd Hensley Thompson and the mother of Mardell Thompson McBay and Doris Thompson O'Neal. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Decie Thompson, 88, a resident of Lawndale Drive, Fayetteville and a homemaker died Friday (Aug. 1, 1997) at Lincoln Regional Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was a Lincoln County native, daughter of William Milton and Maggie Winsett May and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Survivors include two children, Doris O'Neal and Mardell McBay, both of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Mayberry and Bro. Joe Wayne McGee officiating. Interment in Lincoln Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
