Mrs. Bardeen lived in Racine for most of her life. Mrs. Bardeen was a member of the St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Wisconsin Gas and Electric Company EMBA Auxiliary, St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, the Racine Zoological Society, the American Legion Post 76 Auxiliary, and the Racine Concert Band. She enjoyed reading and watching sports.
Dorothea is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Dione Henkel, Janice (Jack) Kistler, Patricia Monroe, and Kathleen (Tom) Grendzinski,; one son, John Bardeen; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn (Karl) Steinert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; two sisters, Althea Thomas and Margaret Meyer; and four brothers, Karl Thomas, J. Emery Thomas, Walter Thomas, and Leland Thomas.
A Memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at 12 noon with a luncheon immediately following in the funeral home reception room. A private entombment will take place in a niche at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to St. Luke's Church or DeKoven Foundation have been suggested.
