Charles H. Dawley, 71, of Austin Avenue, a maintenance man for Roy Jaswell Drill Co. for 14 years before retiring in April due to illness, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Catherine B. (McDonald) Dawley.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Mabel (Weeks) Dawley. He moved from Johnston to Greenville 49 years ago.
Mr. Dawley had been superintendent of the Greenville Water District for 15 years before retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Smithfield Elks, the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department and the New England Water Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
