Farmer and Fruit raiser. Entered Burr and Burton seminary at Manchester in 1858, was there until 1860, teaching during vacation. He then commenced to study medicine until his enlistment in the civil war. After his honorable discharge he resumed his medical studies and in March 1865, he recieved his diploma from the University of NY. Practiced his profession in VT five years. He came to Washington Territory 13 Apr 1870 under appointment as government physician to Neahbay reservation, but, arriving to late, transferred to Fort Simcoe. He held that position until 11 Jan 1871, when there was a change of agents and physicians. He then moved to Yakima, where he taught public school and practiced medicine for four years. He moved to North Yakima in 1895. A member of the GAR. He filled many public offices including school superintendent, justice of the peace, police judge of North Yakima, from 1877 - 1886 as examining surgeon for pensions at North Yakima, deputy auditor, assesor, sheriff and road supervisor. He taught the first public school in Yakima county.
