Tilmon Peter Despres changed his name to Stillman Perry Duprey after immigrating to the United States in 1892. In the family it is said there there was discrimination against those that were not White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, so many French Canadian immigrants Anglicized their names.
He married Jane "Jennie" Robichaud of Pokemouche, New Brunswick, in Milford, Maine April 16, 1901. The couple were the parents of Ethel R., Francis Robert, Genevieve M., Beatrice Elizabeth, Fredrick Joseph and Louise T. Duprey
