Eleanor West was the sister of Sir Thomas West, 1st Baron of West. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas West (died 3 September 1386), of de Hampton Cantilupe (1312–1386), and Alice FitzHerbert (died 1395) the sister and co-heiress of Sir Edmund FitzHerbert.

When her brother, Thomas West was seventeen, he, his mother, and sister Eleanor were assaulted and robbed, by a Nicholas Clifton, who carried his sister off. Later, Eleanor married a man by the name of Nicholas Clifton. It is not known if this Nicholas Clifton was one in the same. As of yet, no records have been found as to the fate of her alleged captor. No other information has been found other than where Eleanor and her husband Nicholas were buried.
