OBITUARY TEXT

DONALD B. STEWART APR 4, 1928 - APR 20, 2010

Don was born in San Francisco, but lived most his life in Orange County. When he was 17 he joined the U.S. Navy and had many fond memories of the time he spent on duty in China. He also served for the Air Force and National Guard.

Don was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. After completing his education, Don became a sales executive for several construction equipment companies. He moved to Riverbank 16 years ago, when he retired, which gave him time to serve as a docent for the McHenry Museum and as a Commissioner on the Riverbank Housing Authority.

Don was an avid home improvement fan and would tackle almost any project. He and his wife loved animals and always had a house full of adopted pets. The two great loves of his life were his family and golf. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He leaves behind his wife Joan, of Riverbank, children Mark (Yvonne) Stewart of Orange, Christina (Steve) Von Essen of Riverbank and grandchildren Nichole, Jessica and Jeffrey Von Essen.

A Rosary will be recited at Riverbank Memorial Chapel Friday 4/23/10 at 6:00pm. A Catholic mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Rome Church on Saturday 4/24/10 at 9:00am. Final resting place will be Acacia Memorial Park, Modesto. We love you. Thank You for being the wonderful man you were. You will be truly missed.
