She was born July 9, 1938 in Rockingham County to Walter and Eva Jane Southern. She was a loving mother, granny, sister, aunt and friend. Margie loved bowling, gardening and tending to her flowers. Along with her husband, she ran Neal's Grocery from 1966-1985. She was retired from Unifi with 45 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
A 2:00 pm graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, with Rev. Mark Smith officiating.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne "Buddy" Neal; sisters, Thelma Southern, Mae Smith and Lib Simmons; brothers, Roy Southern and Carl Southern; special friends, Floyd Wright and Gary Pinnix.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are 1 son, Gary Neal and wife Martha; 1 daughter, Debbie Snead and husband Mike; 1 granddaughter, Beth Clark and husband Chris; 1 special grand dog, Jazzy; 3 sisters, Aliene Manuel, Louise Landreth, Della Smith and husband Paul; 1 brother, Hardy Southern and wife Gloria and friend, Earl Flynn and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, October 28, 2013 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at her home, 4497 Pine Hall Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
