A native of Shelby County, he was a retired line worker at National Distillery. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventists. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce and Gary Armstrong, Frankfort, and Jackie Smith, Ramsey, Ind.; a daughter, Mary Alice Sapp, Frankfort; a foster daughter, Rachel Raisor, Owenton; two sisters, Elizabeth Day, Bullitt County, and Hazel Tracy, Frankfort; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was the widower of Doris Smith Armstrong, and was the son of the late Emmet and Alveda Johnson Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Armstrong.
Rev. Chuck Ellestad will officiate.
Bearers will be Brian Sapp, Philip Sapp, Devin Armstrong, Jonathan Rodgers, Daniel Rodgers, and Bobby Russelburg.
