Mrs. Bounds was left a widow with six children, whom she cared for faithfully. When the war broke out the oldest son, William W., and then another, Daniel F., enlisted in the second New York, the third, James, in the cavalry, and in 1862 the youngest and last, in D company, one hundred and twenty-fifth New York. They returned after serving faithfully. One was confined fifteen months in southern prisons, and at his residence, where she spent her closing days, the mother died. She was for years a member of the Third street Methodist church."
