She was the daughter of the late Prettyman and Sallie Stevenson, and was born and raised in Lawsons District, near Crisfield.
Mrs. Byrd had recently spent two weeks in Crisfield, with her sister, Mrs. Hiram L. Sterling, and then had returned to her home in Salisbury where she was taken ill, and rushed to the hospital. It was found when she was admitted that she was in a dying condition.
During her long life she had been an active woman, a fine wife and mother and good and kind neighbor, and on many occasions her helpfulness and sympathy had been of untold value to those who were sick and distressed. Her generous nature and warm friendship had endeared her to everyone who knew her, and a host of relatives and friends mourn her passing away.
Her body, which had reposed at Holloway Funeral Parlors in Salisbury was brought to Crisfield, where funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 13th, at 2.30. in Mt. Pleasant Methodist church, conducted by Rev. E.L. Bennett, Rev. L. L. Knotts and Rev. Charles M. Elderdice of Easton. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery.
Pall-bearers were John L. Stewart, Wm. T. Pryor, Rupert Catlin, Edwin Johnson, Russell L. Pryor, and Dale Owens.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles T. Pryor, of Salisbury, two sisters, Mrs. William J. Adams and Mrs. Hiram L. Sterling, of Crisfield, one brother, Mr. George Stevenson, of Salisbury, and seven grandchildren.
