Emma Johnson was born July 4, 1888 at Oakley, Kansas, the daughter of John and Lydia Nehrung Buerstatte. Her death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska on January 22, 1978, following several years of failing health. She had attained the age of 89 years, 6 months and 18 days.

As a small girl she came with her parents to Nebraska where they resided at Tecumseh for a few years and then moved to Lincoln.

On February 14, 1912 she was united in marriage to Victor Johnson at Marquette. They established their home on a farm near Marquette where they resided for several years. Four children were born to them, two of whom survive. Her husband preceded her in death on February 22, 1959. She continued to reside on the farm until 1963 when she moved to Aurora.

Mrs. Johnson was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and was active in church affairs as long as her health permitted.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald, who died in World War II and an infant daughter Gwenllian, two brothers, Albert and Chris Buerstatte and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Larsen.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Imogene McDonald of Alexandria, Virginia and Mrs. Yvonne Porter of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
