Charles Harvey Beirne, 90, of Smithers died September 21, 2011. Uncle Charley passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington. He was born August 17, 1921 in Fayette County and was the son of the late Robert L. and Janie Campbell Beirne, Sr.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Skaggs Beirne; his brother, Robert L. Beirne, Jr.; his sister, Ruth Beirne Picarella; and his great-nephew, Greg Mason Perry.


He was retired from Lockheed-Martin Corporation in Orlando, Fla, with 30 years of service and was a member of the International United Automobile Aerospace Workers of America Local 788 in Orlando. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Montgomery.

Surviving are his sister, Julia Beirne Mease of Smithers; nieces, Judy Mease Perry of Smithers and Betty Mease Gilkerson and her husband, Tom, of Kanawha Falls and Sarah Mease of Kanawha Falls; nephew, David Michael Perry and his wife, Lori, of Worcester, Mass, and Nicholas Ryan Perry and Gregory Michael Perry of Worcester, Mass.

Service will be at the Montgomery First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery is in charge of arrangements.
