Libbie Samples Reddic was born December 25, 1945, in Kilgore, Texas to the late Heron and Libby Samples. Born into a Christian, close and loving family, she confessed her faith in God at an early age where she attended Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church in Liberty City, Texas. Her commitment to service began when she used her angelic voice to sing God's praises in the church choir and throughout the community. She later became an dedicated Sunday School teacher and active missionary for over 30 years at Harmony Pirtle Baptist Church.
Libbie received many accolades while attending C.B. Dansby High School where she was an active member in many school activities. Her peers had such high regard for her that she was selected as Tigerette Lieutenant of the drill team, Miss Tigerette and crowned Miss Explorer of America. Upon graduating from Winona Industrial High School in 1964, Libbie pursued her interest in Secondary Education while attending Kilgore College, Tyler Junior College and Wiley College where she earned her associates degree.
On June 25, 1966, Libbie married her lover, friend and soul-mate, Curtis Reddic at Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church. Curtis and Libbie's love was so strong, they were rarely apart from each other. For nine years she worked as a division clerk in the same office with Curtis for the St. Louis Southwestern Railway. As successful entrepreneurs, they worked side-by-side for over 40 years running "Reddic's Upholstery and Drapery Service". Libbie was a talented seamstress who was blessed with the ability to design and custom create beautiful draperies, bed comforters and upholstery. To their beautiful union, three children were born—Rodney, Darnisha and Cherie. Libbie instilled in each of her children the importance of placing God first in their life, and emphasized family togetherness, love and concern for others and higher education.
At the age of 67, On October 28, 2013 Libbie's angelic soul is now reunited with her mother, father, brother John Samples and sister Juliet Mayfield in heaven. She leaves behind an honorable legacy with her loving husband of 47 years, Mr. Curtis Reddic; devoted children: Rodney (Perinza) Reddic, Darnisha (Vince) Lary, and Cherie (Quincy) Jones; three sisters Helen (Floyd) Ferguson, Vorice (John) Henson, Gloria Faye (Melvin) Golden and brother Heron (Carolyn) Samples Jr.; five grandsons: Tristan Lary, Andrew Reddic, Daniel Reddic, Joseph Reddic, and Malcolm Jones.
