MABLE L. BOWLBY, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 29, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society in Winfield surrounded by her family and friends.

Born on July 9, 1920 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of John William and Betty Jane (King) Wilson. She was raised and received her education in Oklahoma.

Mable was united in marriage on August 9, 1941 to Jack Oliver Bowlby in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield where they farmed. In 1949, they moved to California and later Oregon returning to Winfield in 1951. She was employed at various retirement homes as a CNA and also worked at the Winfield Laundry. Mr. Bowlby preceded her in death on September 25, 2003.

Mable enjoyed traveling, reading magazines and watching soap operas.

Her family includes: Her daughter: Velma L. Howell and husband Don of Nampa, ID; Her daughter-in-law: Nancy Bowlby of Belle Plaine, KS; Her grandchildren: Jeffery Scott Howell, Karen Lee Fuller, Troy Don Howell, Cheryl LeAnn Gehlen and Jeremy Todd Bowlby; Her great-grandchildren: Douglas, Jonathan, Kara, Tzar, Joseph, Jake and Colton; and Her 11 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jack L. Bowlby and Tommy E. Bowlby; her grandson, John Russell Bowlby; her brothers, Alva, Bill, Floyd, Buster and Jr.; and her sisters, Alma, Thelma, Lura, Lela and Mary Aslee. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 1, 2013. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Mable's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
