Otha was the son of Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Chambers and Virinda Victoria (Martin) Chambers. He married Clara Pearl Cox on June 10, 1900, in Carroll County, Tennessee.

Otha and Clara were the parents of three children--Edrell M., Elrod O., and Waddell Chambers.

Obituary published in The Tennessean, Nashville, Davidson CO, TN on Friday, Nov. 15, 1907, p. 7, as follows:
HOLLOW ROCK, Tenn., Nov. 14.--(Special.)--Otha Chambers died Monday night at his home in Birmingham, Ala. after a long illness of typhoid fever. Deceased was born and reared in this town where he had many friends and relatives. The remains were brought here last night and funeral services were conducted today at the residence of his mother, Mrs. V. V. Chambers, Rev. J. G. Cooper officiating , after the remains were interred at Pisgah cemetery, about three miles north of here. Deceased was about 27 years old and leaves a wife and tree small children. He was an employee of the 'Frisco Railroad Company and had a bright future.
