Robert L. (Billy) Lemmon, 93, of Jackson Township, Nettle Hill, Greene County, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2009, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, after being in failing health for the past two years.

He was born December 22, 1915, in Jackson Township, a son of Charles Marvin and Mary "Lissie" Hennen Lemmon, and was a resident of Jackson Township all his life.

Mr. Lemmon was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church at Nettle Hill since childhood and was a member of the cemetery board, a former assistant superintendent and a trustee.

He was a 1933 graduate of Waynesburg High School.

Mr. Lemmon was a veteran of World War II, having served as a tech 4 in the U.S. Army.

He was a self-employed farmer all his life and also was employed as a carpenter, plumber and brick layer.

On November 1, 1945, he married Madeline Shough, who survives.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Edward, Guy and Luke Lemmon, and two sisters, Ethel Pettit and Mary Elizabeth Mansfield.

Mr. Lemmon was the last of his immediate family.
