Creator of Lucky Charms Cereal. John worked as a chemical engineer at General Mills until retiring in 1978 as Vice-President of Research and New Development.  In 1963, seeing Brach's orange circus peanuts while in a supermarket aisle, he purchased some, and returning to his lab, cut them up and sprinkled them over "Cheerios." This evolved into the cereal "Lucky Charms." He was also the first to research vitamin integration into cereal leading to the introduction of "Total." He and his wife, Rosalind lived in Minneapolis until relocating to Annandale in 1966. He became a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Annandale Care Center Board, the School Board and Buffalo Community Orchestra. He and his wife were founding members of Friendship Ventures and A.R.C. of Minnesota. Both he and his wife were killed in an automobile accident. They had been married for sixty years.
