Joseph Louis, son of Louis and Elizabeth (Hafner) Bouchard was born on February 3, 1918, at Mooreton, North Dakota. He was baptized at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mooreton and attended Mooreton Public School. In the early 1940s, Joe moved to Milnor and began farming. He retired from farming in the 1980s and moved in to Milnor, where he lived for many years. Joe enjoyed cooking and canning, and his pickles were a special gift from him. He had many friends and liked to visit at the Sundale Colony near Milnor. Joe was a member of St. Arnold's Catholic Church.

In 2002 he entered the Leach Home in Wahpeton, and in 2005 he moved to St. Catherine's Living Center, where he passed away on October 31, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lawrence Bouchard, and Peter, Clarence, and Ben Knoppy, and a sister, Caroline Jallen. Joe is survived by numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Arnold's Catholic Church, Milnor, ND, with his funeral mass to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery near Mooreton, ND.
