He was born in Logan, West Virginia on October 20, 1933.
Jackie proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War; he worked for LTV Steel in Cleveland until his retirement. He was a member of Haven Church in Lorain and he enjoyed volunteering with Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels.
Jackie loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mary (nee Ellis); sons, David Adkins and Jack Adkins; 3 brothers; 1 sister also 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Ruby Adkins.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Wyers Funeral Chapel 2900 North Ridge Rd. Sheffield Township and from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst.
