My Grandfather Ira was a wonderful human . Had a heart of gold. But was tough as nails when needed. He was a young man when he enlisted in the Navy. He was a gunner on the galley side during WWII . It was his job to feed the sailors and shoot down enemy planes. And he did exceptionally well at both. Earning a few medals . Including the Purple Heart.
