Bill Schuda, 86, longtime Brule resident, died Nov. 1, 2013, in Bellevue.
C.S. "Bill" Schuda was born on June 22, 1927, in Ashton, to Stanley and Helen (Grabowski) Schuda. He attended school in Loup City.
He was then drafted into the Army in 1946. Bill received his basic training in North Little Rock, Ark., and was then deployed to the Occupation Force in Japan where he served his tour of duty. Upon returning from his military service, Bill farmed in the Loup City area. On Dec. 28, 1955, he married Leona Kosmicki in Rockville. They lived briefly in Ogallala before making their home in Brule in 1957.
Following several years at Goodall Electric, Bill joined Beal Enterprises in 1962 where he worked for decades in construction and farming. During this time, he and Leona raised their five children.
In 1976 Bill began his own farming business, from which he retired in 2001.
His dear wife, Leona passed away in 2008, and Bill continued to live in their home in Brule until his illness in June 2013. At that time, he moved to Bellevue, where he was in hospice care in his daughter's home.
