Johanna was the first of seven children born to Irish immigrants, David Kinna and Bridget McGrail. She was baptized on 8 Dec 1850 at St. Augustine's in Dundas. In 1856, her family moved to the Baldoon Settlement in Dover Twp., Kent Co. She moved from the farm to work for a family in Wallaceburg. There she met and married William Patrick Clancey in the fall of 1870. They had six children: Ellen, Patrick, Mary, Elizabeth, Delia and Anna and later adopted a son, Edward. In 1879, Johanna and Wm. bought a farm in Fraser Twp., Bay Co., Mi., where William died in 1906. In 1920, Hannah, along with her daughters, Ellen and Anna and their families, moved to California, where Hannah lived for the remainder of her life.
