Gustave (Lud) was the youngest child of Nels and Mary Johnson.

Lud married Mary Demler on February 15, 1947. Lud and Mary had one child, Timothy Allen Johnson.

Lud, age 90 years, died April 21, 2005. He was born in Bay City on February 23, 1915 to the late August and Mary (Lieberg) Johnson. He graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1935. Lud was a member of Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church where he had been active in the choir and held many board positions. He was employed by Defoe Shipbuilding Company, the Bay City Shovels, and until his retirement by Saginaw Manufacturing (General Motors). He enjoyed bowling and golf, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. Lud is survived by Mary, his wife of 58 years and his son Tim (Karen) Johnson of Tucson, Az. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death were two sisters and a brother. Funeral and committal services will be Monday and 11:00am at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church. The Rev. Keith N. Schroeder will officiate. Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery.
