In the 1900 census they are living and working on a farm with James' widowed mother and brother, along with their five children. James would pass away in 1906, leaving Viola with six children , five of them still at home.
In the 1910 census, she is 43, and is living with her four sons and young daughter. Her older brother is also living with them.
Viola died on January 4, 1922 in Cumby at the age of 55. She is buried in the Miller Grove Cemetery.
