A.G. "Jack" Starr, 85, of Sugar Land, died Feb. 20 in Missouri City. He was born Jan. 2, 1909, in Santa Anna. He attended Texas A&M University and worked in oil exploration. He had been a resident of Sugar Land for 74 years. He was a member of the Sugar Land Masonic Lodge #1141, AF&AM.
Survivors include his close friends, Stephen G. and Marjorie J. Starr of Houston; a nephew-in-law, Richard Shaw; a sister-in-law, Joe Ethel Lawrence; and a niece-in-law, Tommy Shaw, all of Kingsville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church in Sugar Land. The Rev. Carroll Fancher and the Rev. Kip Gilts will officiate. Burial service with Masonic Rites will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 431 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, 77478.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. 342-4671.
