He was a graduate of Lowes High School, a member of High Point Baptist Church and a former member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Lowes. Mr. Holt was a farmer in Lowes. He was a lifetime member of the Kentucky Farm Bureau, serving as a director. He was awarded the Merit Award in 1977 as outstanding farmer. He retired from farming in 1980.
He is survived by two sons, Terrell (Sondra) Holt and Robert (Brenda) Holt, one daughter, Melva Holt (David) Wihry; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mildred Frances Leath Holt; his parents, Alonzo and Mary Martha (Mollie) Stayton Holt; and five sisters, Mabel Clara Holt, Muzettie Lilly Holt, Alice Myrtle Holt Moss Evans, Ruth F. Holt Bement and Ruby Holt Lawrence. Robert was the grandson of William Andrew and Willie Ann (Spaulding) Holt of Graves County.
