(This is a memorial only, as no gravestone for Julia Allison has yet been located; however, this cemetery has many unmarked graves, and gravestones broken beyond recognition. Julia's husband and children are buried here and her father set this small cemetery aside as a burying ground for the Crouch, Galloway and related families.)
Julia Crouch was born most likely in Washington County, Tennessee, the daughter of George and Susanah Gresham Crouch. She married Finley Allison Nov 30, 1843. Their children included: Geo W., Ellen H., Robert P., Susan Penelope, Sarah E., Decatur, and Finley Jr. Julia's husband Finley died in 1858 and by 1860 Julia is head of the household. Family lore says that her oldest son George was a Confederate soldier and was killed in the War in North Carolina. When his mother, Julia, heard of her son's death she immediately hitched the team to the hack and started for North Carolina to claim and return his body. When his body was returned to the family home on Boone's Creek, he was interred in the Crouch-Galloway Cemetery alongside his little sister, Ellen Allison. Julia lived the remainder of her life in Washington County. The last record shows her living with her daughter Susan and son-in-law Nathan L. Galloway.
