William E. "Gene" Benson, 89, said good by to the love of his life on Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Germantown, TN. Gene was born in Memphis on February 25, 1924 and served our country in WW ll as a proud Marine. Gene worked 32 years for South Central Bell. He and his wife of 67 years, Kathryn Jeanne Ford Benson, enjoyed a life blessed by tennis and church friends. Benny, to all who loved him, is survived by wife Jeanne; daughter Susan Rubio, and husband Ronn and grandsons Greg, David, and Seth Rubio; son-in-law Jerry Rubio and granddaughters Laura Phillips, Julie Baldrige, and Rebekah Rubio; and 10 great grandchildren. Daughter Brenda, sister Billie Blanchard, and parents Ada Mai and Warner Benson welcomed Benny home. A brief celebration service will follow 11 a.m.-12 p.m. visitation time at the White Station Church of Christ on Colonial Rd. in Memphis on Tuesday, November, 5. Memorial donations may be sent to HopeWorks or to Harding Academy.
