Harriet Sadie Cook died Nov. 20, 2001, at age 100.
Mrs. Cook was born Sadye Litkie on Feb. 16, 1901, in Grand Rapids, Wis. She moved to Portland in the 1920s. During the construction of the Bonneville Dam she owned and operated with her husband a hotel, restaurant, bus depot and post office along what is now the Historic Columbia River Highway. In the late 1940s she moved to Woodland, Wash., and owned Cook's Dairy, which was destroyed in the Vanport flood of 1948. She returned to Portland in the 1950s and owned a number of restaurants. She worked until she was 85. In 1924 she married Archie Cook; he died in 1961.
Survivors include four nieces; six great-nieces and nephews; 14 great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.
Private service. Interment in River View Cemetery. Remembrances to Portland Adventist Hospice. Arrangements by Riverview Abbey.
