Thomas William Deppe was born in Smithfield, Utah from the union of Ernest Deppe and Clara Bingham Deppe. The death of his parents early in his life caused the family to have real hard times. Early in his teens he was fostered into the home of Lindon and Evelyn Baker at St. Anthony, Idaho, This was the beginning of a new life for him, He was given the courage to face life and finish school.

While in high school he loved athletics. He was school champion in tennis, won his letter in basket-ball, football and boxing and was picked to represent the high school at Boy's State.

In 1940, he joined the National Guard. Right after December 7, 1942 his unit was shipped to the South Pacific where he trekked the jungles for 35 months, When he was shipped back he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. He was discharged in 1945 with only the lasting effects of malaria.

In 1945, he married Burdene Leatham of Rexburg, Idaho. The following year he enrolled at Idaho State College and graduated in 1949 as a pharmacist. While in school two sons were born, Dwight and Scott and later Lin was born giving them a family of three sons.

He worked as a pharmacist various places in Idaho and in 1962 he and his family moved to Nampa.

The church has always played a very important roll in his life. He has served the church various positions including Bishop of the Nampa 6th Ward.
